The Summit was blessed to have one of our overseers and my good friend, Pastor Rusty Hayes, speak this past Sunday! His message “Keep Going” was a word of encouragement to those considering giving up on their dreams, or even giving up on life.
As Pastor Rusty explained, some people come to church wearing masks. They greet and high-five everyone with a smile, while on the inside they want to quit and give up. The suicide rate is considerably high in the state of CO, but not everyone feels free to express inner turmoil. Some people want to give up on their marriages, on their kids, on their jobs…
Pastor Rusty reminded The Summit to hold fast to dreams by remembering this: “My dream could be just around the corner.” A dream can be a passion, a longing of the heart. And while life seems to get in the way, you have to remember not to quit and to KEEP GOING! I agree with what he said about each and every one of us having a purpose. That includes you.
Look at what the Bible has to say about staying strong! “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). It’s challenging to hold on to your dreams when you wait days, weeks, months, years, or even decades for them to come to fruition. Pastor Rusty asked what you’re doing right now that you should KEEP doing and what you’re doing that you need to STOP. Having a healthy, well-balanced life helps you focus and dream.
Remember these words from Pastor Rusty: “Waiting for your dream is not wasting your dream.”
