“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8, NIV).
Love Justice. God wants you to do what’s right, no matter what. Value people, and value life! Don’t make judgment calls on whether or not people have value. You have to recognize sin for what it is in order to remain just. If you allow harsh judgment to creep into your life, you won’t value people, and you won’t value justice.
Love Mercy. Some people find fault in others and see them as the problem. Things aren’t perfect, but that’s why you need Christ. When you’re tempted to hold onto grudges, remember what Christ did for you on the cross. If He can forgive you, you can forgive anyone in your life.
Walk Humbly. Most people fall going up the stairs. Pride comes before the fall. If there is any pride in your heart, you might be due for a fall! Our country is founded on Christian principles, yet we turn from God. Think about the humility Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked in. They risked their lives to honor God, rather than worrying about what others thought or what would happen to them for not following the crowd. While everyone else bowed before the king’s image, they refused to bow! They set a good example for you—while others might be struggling to stand with God during this crisis, you have the choice to stand with Him and see Him work in your life!
I leave you with 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away” (NIV).
