What’s your plan for being the person God wants you to be in five years? A couple of days ago I encouraged you to think and pray about this. Let’s dive into the different directions your life could go in the coming years! I want to take this U in 5series seriously and think BIG, even bigger than 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Where doyou want to be in five years?
There’s an incredible power in consistency. Think about the wonderful things you could make a part of your life. You could learn a new language, get a degree, start a dream job, or master a sport. The list goes on! Can you imagine what would happen if, every day for the next five years, you woke up each morning and worked on your relationship with God? You’d find yourself desiring Him more, understanding Him more, and being able to better hear Him speak to you. Nothing is going to change in your relationship with God, aside from it becoming more stagnant, unless you WORK on it.
Let’s explore the amount of harm you can do in five years. What’s scary about this is how it can happen with no effort on your part! You might spend the next five years ignoring your marriage, resulting in a horrifying, messy divorce. You could find yourself facing a prison sentence. What about your health? With drugs, alcohol, poor diet, you could find yourself in a frightening place. And five years from now, you could have racked up a mountain of debt. There’s an endless list of negative things that can result from your lack of motivation to better yourself and serve God or from your unwillingness to work toward something.
Don’t focus on the negative. I’m telling you all of this as a warning and to encourage you to use your time wisely. It takes time to form habits. Use 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting to form new habits! You can spend the next five years ignoring what you’re supposed to do, or you can work on your overall health. I want to say this again—if it’s the best year of your life spiritually, it’ll be the best year of your life! Read through Romans 13 again. It’s foundational to making the most of your life!
