You must always be ready for the harvest! This includes helping others get ready. People sometimes put that “golden ticket” in a back pocket, all with the plan of using it later! But when the harvest is ready (when God has something for you to do), the time to act is now. Think about marriage. Would you marry someone but never plan on seeing that person afterward? No, but that’s what relationships with God can turn into—“I love you, Lord, but now that I’m Yours, I don’t have time for You.”
“If people can’t see what God is doing they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed” (Proverbs 29:18). Sometimes the past can cloud your view of the future. This happens with some children who have been adopted. They can develop Reactive Attachment Disorder and associate tragic pasts with the present/future. YOU may be struggling with your past and having a hard time seeing the good that God is doing now.
Remember to have joy through all seasons of life. Psalms 16:11 says, “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” As I talked about last week, you need to find God, find freedom, and find purpose! God has given everyone unique gifts, and everyone uses their gifts in different ways! When you’re having a hard time seeing what God is doing in your life, don’t forget that God fulfills all of His promises (but in His timing).
Live each day with purpose, knowing that God has assignments for you. Don’t focus on the past or what the world around you is doing, as this will distract you from your purpose. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2). Despite the problems of this world, God remains perfect, and you never have to lose sight of your purpose.
