Have you ever thought about how many ways there are to get offended? You can be offended by made up lies, language you consider to be offensive, the way people look and dress…the list goes on. If you’re looking for something to get offended by, you don’t have to look very hard! I’m convinced some people even sit around making up things to be offended over! If you’re a believer, you have to know that you were created for greater things.
This is exactly what the enemy wants—for you to choose negativity over positivity. John 10:10: “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Is there anything rich and satisfying about a life filled with constant offence? Can you truly love someone the way Christ loves if you’re offended all the time? No! Love is a choice. It’s something you choose, even when it’s not deserved. In the same way, offence is a choice, and you can choose to be unoffendable, even when someone is in the wrong.
Think about what your life would look like if God chose to be offended by everything you do rather than extend you grace. You’d never have His favor because you stumble (in some way) every day! Extending grace toward others, and choosing to be unoffendable, does not mean looking the other way and pretending nothing is wrong. It’s simply that—extending grace. Sometimes when you show another person grace and give him or her another chance, you discover that a supposed offence was just a misunderstanding or part of miscommunication. Today, chose to live unoffendable.
