Can you think of a time God purified you, rescued you, or restored you? Pastor Scott touched on this in his message this past Sunday! God is in the business of restoring people. Joshua 3:5: “Then Joshua told the people, ‘Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.’” Where is the best place to start when you’re seeking restoration/purification? Re-engage, and walk in obedience!
Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” If God is steadfast in His love for us, we should follow that example! Think of an area of your life you need to surrender to God, and do just that—surrender. Keep good company, and remember what Pastor Scott said: “Relationships make life rich.”
What if you plan on obeying God but aren’t ready? It might not feel like you’re doing anything sinful, but I agree with what Pastor Scott said! “Delayed obedience is disobedience.” You don’t get to choose when you’re going to obey. The time is now! Read through the whole book of Joshua to see how important it is to obey, and how God works through you when you do. “The Lord told Joshua, ‘Today I will begin to make you a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites, They will know that I am with you, just as I was with Moses’” (Joshua 3:7).
Some people find it difficult to walk in obedience when they don’t have all the details. You can’t predict everything that will happen in the future, and I don’t think you’d want to. Pastor Scott was bold in saying, “God doesn’t give you all the details, because the details are none of your business!” God isn’t trying to keep things from you. He’s only revealing to you what you need to know. You have to rely on Him for the rest.
