Whether you’re a believer or not, you’re going to have highs and lows in life. And while you know God is always with you and gives you the strength you need to push through, do you ever stop and wonder where that strength really comes from? If you’re a follower of Christ, you know you have a strength that goes beyond yourself. We have access to a heavenly strength. When you get to the end of your strength, there’s a heavenly and divine strength that comes to the rescue.
You were not created to be independent. You were created by God to depend on Him and on others. One of the things that can help you walk through a valley and into peace is to focus on the Fruits of the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). You’ll find it much easier to walk through life focusing on these things than worrying and thinking about your problems.
The Bible tells says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2). Understanding and believing that your true strength comes from above, walking in the Fruits of the Spirit, and realizing that you can’t do this thing called life on your own will help you keep moving forward in life. You may be “in the valley,” but your mind can still be set upon God. Even if your heart is racing, your soul is aching, you’re an emotional wreck, and there are just too many things to do, your mind can be SET on things above.
